Musk caused a stir online after posting about a conspiracy theory about the true identity of the mysterious Bitcoin developer.

The image Musk shared on Wednesday suggested that the name of the person is actually a combination of the brand names of four electronics companies.

The identity of the developer has never been officially confirmed. The creator of the digital currency started writing its code in 2007, and was active in its development until 2011.

The idea that the four companies are behind the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is not new. The image Musk recently posted has been shared on the micro-blogging site for a long time.

Since last year, Musk has been rumored to be the creator of the digital currency, supported by suspicions that he may not be Japanese. Musk denied the allegations.

Not true. A friend sent me part of a BTC a few years, but I don’t know where it is.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 28, 2017

Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist, claimed the identity years ago, while most other people deny the allegations. He wrote in a 2016 post that he was the real Satoshi Nakamoto and that he had evidence to back it up.

Several people, including Musk himself, think computer scientist Nick Szabo is the real Satoshi Nakamoto. Musk described Szabo as more responsible for the ideas behind Bitcoin than anyone else in an episode of The Lex Fridman Podcast from last December.

The co- founder of Neuralink told Fridman that he could look at the evolution of ideas before the launch of Bitcoin. Nick Szabo is probably responsible for the evolution of those ideas more than anyone else.

The internet is unlikely to run out of speculations about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. Users weighed in with their own theories after Musk's post went public.

Elon, just admit you are Satoshi already!

Now is the time for everyone to know the truth! Satoshi Nakamoto is actually three mechanics in Datça industry: Salih Tosun Şirin, Namık Kamiloğlu and Mehmet Orhan Toklu.

Yes Elon, we know you are Satoshi.

You shared that idea while at PayPal, but it was disregarded by mgmt. So, you open sourced it anonymously. Congrats, you’re no longer anon.

Pretty sure Satoshi Nakamoto is the real creator of Dogecoin and he hired people to pretend they made it

Billy Markus, a co- creator of Dogecoin, jumped in on the fun.

Woa the creator of bitcoin is half Japanese, a quarter Korean and a quarter American
