Major League Baseball has reached an agreement with the Players Association to end the second-longest strike in its history.

Training camps will open on Sunday, with the season starting on April 7.

The opening two weeks of the 2022, which was due to start on 31 March, were canceled after MLB locked out its players in December.

Rob Manfred said he was thrilled by the breakthrough in negotiations.

I know that the last few months have been difficult. There was a lot of uncertainty at a time when there was a lot of uncertainty in the world.

Tony Clark, director of the MLB Players' Association, said that the union had to endure the second-longest work strike in its history to achieve significant progress in key areas.

The new labour pact includes a raise in the league's competitive balance tax, which is similar to a salary cap.

This year was the first time since 1994-95 that there have been missed MLB games because of a labour dispute.

Double-headers will be added to the schedule to make up for the opening games that were not played.
