Users in some countries will be allowed to call for violence against Putin and Russian soldiers.

Meta says it has made allowances for some violent speech, like death to the Russian invaders, that would usually break its rules.

It won't allow calls for violence against Russian civilians.

The news agency said it had seen internal emails about the policy shift.

As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Meta made allowances for forms of political expression that would normally violate their rules.

Users in Russia, Ukraine and Poland will be able to call for the deaths of their Presidents under the amended policy.

The calls for the leaders' deaths will be allowed if they include other targets or methods, according to the emails.

When the post refers to the invasion of Ukraine, calls for violence against Russians can be made.

Russia announced last week that it was blocking Facebook and its platforms, citing 26 cases of discrimination against Russian media by Facebook.

The site was not completely unavailable despite being restricted in Russia.

Moscow has cracked down on several social media platforms as it pursues a special operation in Ukraine.
