The news that Major League Baseball and the players union have reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement seems to be heating up the Freddie Freeman speculation.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network says that the Los Angeles Dodgers have an interest in the long-time Atlanta Braves first baseman.

It would make sense for the Dodgers to make an offer for the Braves' first baseman, especially after the loss of the left-handed Seager.

The Dodgers needed a left-handed hitter in the lineup after Seager signed with the Rangers. One of the best lefties in the game is Atlanta's Freddie Freeman, who hit.300/.393/.500 with 31 home runs and 83 RBI in 159 games last season.

The Dodgers would have more flexibility in the infield with the addition of Freeman. Muncy could play either second or third base if he was at first base. Adding him opens up a variety of combinations that the club wouldn't otherwise have.

L.A. has one of the scariest lineups in baseball with Mookie Betts,Cody Bellinger and Trea Turner. It would be more difficult for pitchers to get through the lineup if it were added to it.

The Dodgers will face stiff competition in 2020. Jon Heyman of the MLB Network says that the Tampa Bay Rays have made an offer. The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays have been linked to the veteran.

The Braves are interested in retaining the five-time All-Star who has spent his entire 12-year career with the franchise.

For the Yankees, it would be a huge upgrade to have a player like that. Ji-Man Choi is at first base for the Rays.

Behind the Braves star, there are some of the best first basemen available, including Anthony Rizzo andMitch Moreland. Teams are heavily pursuing him.
