Five Iowa children are facing hate crime charges for harassing another child. The young people used racial slurs while attacking the victim and now they have turned the charge into an enhanced count. Six children ranging in age from 12 to 13 were spending the night at a Clive home. One was physically and verbally attacked during the sleepover. The five boys threw objects at the victim and used racial epithets. According to KCCI, the kids who are not public due to Iowa law knew each other because they attended the same school. There was no reason for the child to be targeted and bullied other than the use of racialized language. The Polk County Attorney's Office and law enforcement were made aware of the incident over the weekend.
