'Sesame Street' Actor Emilio Delgado Dead at 81, Played Luis for 40 Years

The actor best known for his role as Luis on Sesame Street has died. It has been learned.

Carol says that her husband died surrounded by family at his home in NYC. We were told that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in December of 2020.

Carol says that Emilio was still working as an actor before the Pandemic, playing the lead in a theater production that had a 3-city run. He did some work in January.

The beloved Mexican-American actor was a pioneer in children's television, playing Luis, the Fix-It Shop owner for 40 years on the Street.

He has performed in live theater throughout his career, and has also appeared at various convention over the years.

The man was 81.
