Poland plans to give its entire fleet of fighter jets to the US military and then send them to Ukraine, Forbes reports.

The 27 jets will be transferred immediately to the U.S. Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany, according to a statement from Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Poland wants the United States to give them used aircraft with corresponding operational capabilities. Poland is ready to immediately establish the conditions of purchase of the planes.

The Soviet Air Force used the MiG-29.

The U.S. would replace Poland's MiG-29s if it gave them to Ukraine, according to the Secretary of State.

According to a report last week, the U.S. estimates that Russia is using just over 75 combat aircraft. Multiple military experts told the news agency that Russia had not destroyed Ukraine's air defenses and that the air force was outmatched.

She told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the U.S. did not consult with them before giving the planes to us. John Kirby said that Tuesday. It is not clear to us that there is a substantive reason for it. We will continue to consult with Poland and our other NATO allies about this issue and the difficult logistical challenges it presents, but we do not believe Poland's proposal is a tenable one. NATO does not want a conflict with Russia and the White House has ruled out sending troops to fight. The U.S. military said it would move forces to Poland to counter any threat to NATO allies.
