The Dallas Cowboys are interested in trading for La El Collins.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Cowboys are having active trade conversations with other teams regarding Collins, who has been a starter for them since 2015.
The LSU product was suspended for five games last season for a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. The suspension came after missed drug tests and attempts to bribe the league's drug-test collector.
Collins was benched for two games this season, which was shaping up to be a nightmare. Collins remained a great option on the right side of the line once he got back into the good graces of the Cowboys coaches. Collins was given an 82.0 grade by Pro Football Focus, and he allowed only two sacks.
The Cowboys are trying to figure out how to get under the salary cap in time for the start of the league year. Collins could be on the chopping block.
The Cowboys are expected to release or trade wide receiver Amari Cooper after defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence turned down a pay cut.
Dallas would save only a small amount of money by trading Collins, so it may be that the team is just ready to move on.
