What you need to know for Thursday night's NBA slate

By Jim and Kyle.

Jonathan Kuminga is an option down the stretch of the fantasy regular season. Kuminga has scored at least 16 points in three straight games, and has displayed a variety of skills. He had a career-high six assists on Tuesday night against the Clippers, and in his last three games he has shot 20-of-31 from the field and 6-of-12 from 3-point land. He has made 23 of 28 free throws after the All-Star break.

Draymond Green and Gary Payton II will not be playing for the Warriors against the Clippers. This shows a bigger role for Jordan Poole, who has lofted at least six 3-pointers in five straight games. There is a path to 25 DraftKings points for Green in his absence, and Kevon Looney is a solid bargain.

Identifying statistical specialists can give you an edge in head-to-head formats. With Danny Green ruled out for the marquee game against Brooklyn on Thursday, the team will rely on defensive stalwart Matisse Thybulle as their main point-of-attack defender. Thanks to James Harden, Thybulle is pacing the league in steal percentage and finding more utility on offense. He can help those in both categories and defensive props.

Bruce Brown is one of the most-added players of the past week. While a lot of Brown's screening and off-ball savvy doesn't result in fantasy fun, he has become a more helpful statistical contributor in recent outings thanks to an increase in steal rate. Brown is an ideal plug-and-play during this limited Thursday slate.

Game of the Night

Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers, 7:30 p.m. ET

The 76ers are on the line.

Moneyline: 76ers (-200), Nets (+170)

Total: 234.5 points

BPI Projected Total: 226 points

BPI Win%: 76ers (72.1%)

Ben Simmons, Danny Green, LaMarcus Aldridge, and other key players have been ruled out.

Doug Kezirian andAnita Marks discuss how to bet on a Nets and 76ers game on the NBA slate. Listen!

The Nets are 4-2 against the 76ers under Steve Nash, but they failed to cover seven of eight meetings.

The team total is the best bet. The team has averaged 125.4 points in five games with James Harden in the lineup. The team total number has been hit over by the 76ers in all five games that Harden has played. On top of that, the 76ers offense has an offensive efficiency rating of 133.2 and a defensive efficiency rating of 103.3 when Harden, Embiid and Maxey are on the floor together. I like this pick because of the Nets lack of defense. The defensive rating of Brooklyn has gone up in the last three games. The Nets are allowing opponents to shoot 37.4% from three and 49.6% from the floor, while allowing 51.3 points in the paint to opponents in the three games KD has played since the All-Star break.

The best bet is the 76ers and the Nuggets. Harden and Embid are playing for the 76ers. They have a top 3 offense that is averaging 120 points per game. The Nets are ranked 28th in the country in allowing opponents to shoot 50% from the field and 37% from downtown. I think Harden will go off against his former team in Philadelphia tonight. Harden, Embid, and Maxey are a force, shooting 45% from the field and 42% from 3.

Georges Niang is a fantasy streamer. Danny Green will be out for a week with a finger laceration, putting Niang on the streaming radar tonight against the Nets. Niang has averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebound, and 2.5 assists per 40 minutes. Green has averaged 22.3 minutes this season.

Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets, 10:00 p.m. ET

The line is Warriors (- 2.5).

Moneyline: Warriors (-139), Nuggets (+117)

Total: 220.5 points

BPI Projected Total: 226 points

BPI Win%: Warriors (57.9%)

Key players that were ruled out were: Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr.

Will Barton has an ankle injury.

The point totals have been there for the Warriors, despite the results not being there much recently. Overs are 9-2 in their past 11 games, a stretch that includes a 3-8 record.

Austin Rivers has started the last two games for the Nuggets with Will Barton out. In those two games, he averaged over 10 points per game, 3.5 APG, 2.5 RPG, 2.0 3PG and 1.5 SPG, and could be a cheap source of production on a sparse night.

There is a Fantasy Streamer with 98.4% available. He has started the last two games and is getting more playing time. He scored 30 points on Monday when four of his teammates rested, but he has averaged a solid 11.3 points per game, 3.6 points per game and 2.4 points per game in eight starts this season.

The triple-double was the best bet. Denver is the better team at the moment, and have been unstoppable since the All-Star break, ranking in the top 7 both defensively and on offense. Jokic has a chance to dominate in the paint against a Warriors defense that has no answer for him, and is still in the running for the Most Valuable Player award. Jokic has three triple-doubles in his last five games.

The Warriors are the best bet. The Warriors had 2 points. Denver has won three in a row and is 4-7 on a back-to-back this season. The Warriors almost pulled off an upset despite not having Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins or Stephen Curry. The Nuggets beat the Kings 106-100 on the road last night and must play in Golden State in less than 24 hours. The Warriors snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over the Clippers on Tuesday. With the stars back in the lineup and tired legs from Denver, Golden State will continue to roll tonight with a win and cover.
