The troubled Championship club have been left in a horrible position with no end in sight to the takeover saga according to Derby County boss Wayne Rooney.

Derby have been in administration for six months and are in danger of being demoted to League One.

We are all worried. Rooney told the radio station that the players and staff were worried.

Derby administrators Quantuma have been in active dialogue with a number of parties and were hoping to name a preferred bidder by now.

The Binnie family, one of the groups in discussions, submitted an offer for the club on Monday but it was rejected by the club. They said that there were no other bids on the table.

Rooney is worried about the situation going on even longer.

The administrators met with supporters and staff and it was clear that there was no preferred bidder for the short-term future.

We needed this sorted a long time ago. We all need a preferred bidder in.

It can take up to 12 weeks for a preferred bidder to take control of the club and exit administration. So, looking at the timelines, what happens when we get to pre-season? Is it an embargo or a points deduction? How do we move forward?

It is a terrible position to be in for this club.

'Every day that goes past is a day lost'

The English Football League warned Derby that the lack of progress was a threat to the club's future after they missed a deadline to prove they had funds.

The evidence was provided by administrators despite the fact that the EFL said a number of challenges remained.

Rooney knows that administrators are doing everything they can to find a buyer.

Everyone was expecting something yesterday and to not get it is frustrating. Everyone has been told that things could happen in four or five days.

It has been said many times that someone will be in next week, but it hasn't happened. I know they are trying to get deals done but the lack of movement is a real concern. Every day that goes by is a lost day.

Preparing for games is a 'release'

Rooney has been praised for galvanising his squad to fight against the drop since they were deducted 21 points for going into administration.

Rooney says that the Rams will not give up now that they are five points off safety with 10 games to go.

The majority of the squad don't know where they are going. He said that they deserve a lot of praise for what they are doing.

It is a release for me and the players when they are on the training pitch.

All of this goes to the back of your mind because it is 11v11 and you are trying to win the game. There is no hiding from where we are.

We can't control the off-field situation - our job is to try to stay in the Championship and we will do that until it is impossible.
