Meta is trying to get more people to use virtual reality for fitness. In April, the company will make it possible to see your virtual reality fitness data in more places, instead of just within a virtual reality app. You'll be able to see metrics within the mobile app of the company, such as calories burned, minutes spent working out, and your virtual reality fitness goals.

The bigger news for Apple users is that they will be able to track their virtual reality workouts in the same app as their regular workouts, thanks to the integration with Apple Health. Meta is exploring integrations with additional fitness tracking platforms.

Meta says that it does not use Move metrics to inform ads you see across the company's other services. If you sync your data with the mobile app, it will be stored on Meta's server and protected with end-to-end encryption. Meta's supplemental data policy will be updated on April 11th with information on how it stores your fitness-related info if you opt-in, and you can view those terms here.

Since the launch of the Quest 2 in late 2020, working out in virtual reality has grown in popularity. People wanted to be engaged and stay fit from the comfort of their homes because of the Pandemic. I have heard that some of the fitness experiences are fun, and that it is a very profitable business for Meta. The team responsible for Supernatural was purchased by the company in October of 2021.

If Apple ever releases its long-rumored augmented reality / virtual reality headset with Apple Health integration, there will be more than one option for a headset that can contribute to their fitness goals.
