Burger King stopped corporate support for its restaurants in Russia.

The chain said it won't approve any investment or expansion. The suspension includes pausing operations, marketing and its supply chain.

Burger King is the latest fast-food chain to suspend corporate support for their Russian locations.

McDonald's has the largest exposure to Russia since most of its restaurants there are owned by the company. Kevin Ozan, the company's CFO, said Wednesday that pausing operations in Russia will cost it $50 million a month.

The symbolic step backs of other U.S. restaurant companies won't be as bad. According to Factset, Restaurant Brands gets less than 1% of its revenue from Russia. Most of the Starbucks, Papa John's and other chains in Russia are run by local people.

Russian franchised locations of Restaurant Brands would be diverted to humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees.
