Bruce Weber let his hair grow this season.

He kept his hair short and well groomed when he was the basketball coach at Kansas State. He started to look shaggy a few months ago and seemed to favor a more relaxed look on the sideline.

Most assumed he made the change because a lot of people did it during the coronaviruses epidemic. He had a different reason.

He said after the Big 12 Tournament loss to West Virginia that he would grow his hair out until the teams that were involved in the FBI investigations were punished.

Weber said that they did it the right way. I am on the NCAA ethics committee. I was told that the people in the FBI would be taken care of. I told someone that I was going to grow my hair.

It is still growing. The sad part of our business is that. I was told by Lon Kruger that I should think about the guys in the FBI. They are all in the tournament. I'm proud of what I've done.

It felt like a jab at Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks, who were alleged to have committed five Level I NCAA rules violations.

Weber tried to defend his 10-year tenure with the Cats, which is almost certainly coming to an end after a 14-15 season. K-State hasn't made the playoffs or finished with a winning record since 2019.

The shine of five NCAA Tournament appearances, two shared Big 12 titles and one run to the Elite Eight have faded over time, despite Weber reaching incredible heights during his first seven years at K-State.

Weber won 184 games at K-State without a hint of scandal, even though change is coming to Manhattan.

Bob Huggins has known Bruce for a long time. Bruce is a great basketball coach. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.

Weber knows his time is up with the team. Taylor will meet with him in the coming days and the school will almost certainly announce a national coaching search for his replacement.

Weber thinks he deserves a chance to continue coaching because he has never been accused of cheating.

He brought that up before his time with the Wildcats ended.
