The Crew and Maintenance agreement with Singapore Airlines will allow for the deployment of five Boeing 777 freighters.
With the deployment of five Boeing 777 freighters, we can expand our express service linking the Asia Pacific region with the Americas. There are good prospects for strong growth in trans-Pacific trade lanes. We see a chance to establish a long- lasting relationship with Singapore Airlines, who shares common values and operates at the highest standard.
The SIA pilots will operate the freighters on the routes to the United States of America via points in North Asia. The maintenance of these aircraft will be overseen by SIA.
There is an opportunity for an extension of the initial agreement. The first and second aircraft will be delivered in July and October of 2022, respectively. There are three aircraft that are planned for delivery.
Mr Lee Lik Hsin, Executive Vice President Commercial, SIA, said: "Today's agreement builds on and strengthens the long-standing partnership between SIA and DHL." The fast-growing e-commerce segment will be supported by the new freighter operation, as well as other key business segments that rely on trusted express services.
There are over 300 dedicated aircraft in the global network of DHL Express.
The longest range and most capable twin-engine freighters are the Boeing 777s, which contribute to the company's sustainable goals by reducing CO2 emissions by 18%.
The cargo division of Singapore Airlines has a fleet of freighters as well as the belly hold space of the SIA and Scoot passenger aircraft. The airline ordered A350F freighters as part of its fleet renewal programme.
On March 8th, the company placed an order for six more 777 Freighters. Since it placed its first direct order last year, the order book has grown to 28.
With the order of six new, large widebody freighter aircraft, we continue to invest in our future and further enhance the capability and reach of our global air network. The most fuel-efficient aircraft in its class, the Boeing 777 Freighter, will connect the global hubs of DHL in Cincinnati,Leipzig and Hong Kong.
Delivery of 15 777 Freighters has been taken by DHL Express.
The best-selling freighter of all time is the 777 Freighter. Since the program began in 2005, more than 300 customers from around the world have ordered the planes.
