Grisham said her son told her that he was ashamed that she worked for the former Republican president and his party.
Grisham was a guest co-host on The View on Tuesday and made the comments during the show.
The hosts discussed the Parental Rights in Education bill that the GOP-controlled Florida legislature passed on Tuesday after weeks of intense opposition from national Democrats, Florida students, and LGBTQ advocates. Critics have dubbed the legislation "Don't Say Gay" because it prohibits the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in primary classrooms.
The bill is expected to be signed into law by the governor. Legislation would take effect in July if he does.
The hosts of "The View" slammed the bill, saying it will have a negative effect on students and teachers.
Is this bill about punishing teachers who actually want to help kids, or is it about making kids feel bad?
Sara talked about her brother's experience as a gay student.
At about five or six, he started to feel different. She said that if he asked a question, he could have been in a situation where he had to betray him.
The legislation would allow parents to file lawsuits against school districts that don't alert them to critical decisions affecting a student's mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.
The bill was suggested to be on purpose by another co-host of The View. It is to shame children, Hostin said.
Hostin suggested that the bill was a result of the culture former President Donald Trump promoted during his time in office.
The subject matter was personal to Grisham, who has spent months publicly apologizing for her role in the Trump White House.
I have a 14-year-old son who recently came out as gay. She said that she had his permission to talk about it. He was ashamed of where I worked.
Grisham accused the legislation of making young students feel different.

During her appearance on the show, Grisham said that the former president both feared and admired Putin.
I think he was afraid of him. I think he was afraid of him. She said the man intimidated him and that he admired him.
