Uber Technologies App Illustrations Ahead Of Earnings

The group order and bill splitting feature will make it easier to make sure your friends and family are paying their share of the bill.

You will now be able to start a group order from within the app, instead of passing your phone around to everyone in the group. To do this, you have to navigate to the restaurant you want to order from, hit the three dots in the top-right corner of the page, and then hit the group order.

If they haven't already downloaded the app, you can invite them by selecting from your phone's contacts; they will each receive an order link over text message. Your guests can pay for the food that they want.

If you're feeling generous, you can choose to pay the entire bill or set spending limits to keep people from ordering the most expensive item. All the food will be delivered at the same time if you pay for it or split it.

Group orders can be created up to seven days before the event. People can pick their food at any time, but they will be notified if they forget.

I can say that the bill splitting feature is a welcome addition to the service. It means you don't, and also eliminates the possibility of excuses such as "I'll pay you back tomorrow" or "I don't have Venmo."
