After one season with the Indianapolis Colts, it was reported that the personality of the player played a bigger role in his departure than his play did.

Some members of the organization were finished with him because of his lack of leadership, resistance to hard coaching and reckless style of play.

The Colts agreed to trade Wentz to the Washington Commanders in exchange for two third-round draft picks, the latter of which can become a second-round selection if he plays 70 percent of the offensive snaps next season. The teams will swap picks in the draft.
