Amazon is suspending access to Prime Video for customers based in Russia. The company stated in a post that it has stopped the shipment of retail products to customers in Russia and Belarus. Amazon will no longer be accepting new customers from Russia and other countries. New World is the only video game that the company sells directly in Russia.
We have taken additional actions in the region because of the situation in Russia and Ukraine. Unlike other U.S. technology providers, Amazon and Amazon Web Services have no data centers, infrastructure, or offices in Russia, and we have a long-standing policy of not doing business with the Russian government.
Last week, Amazon announced that it has been working with Ukrainian customers and partners to keep their applications secure. The company says it has been working with Ukrainian IT organizations to fight off attacks.
Earlier this week, Netflix said it was suspending its service in Russia. The company said last week that it wouldn't comply with a new Russian law that requires them to host 20 Russian propaganda channels. All future projects that were planned to be produced in Russia have been paused.
Amazon is the latest company to suspend operations in Russia. Several companies, including Visa and Mastercard, announced this week that they were suspending operations in the country. Apple stopped product sales in Russia last week. Sputnik and Russia Today were removed from the App Store and some Apple Pay services were disabled in the country. The ads sales in Russia have been paused.
