If Republicans regain the majority, GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona would still be allowed to sit on House committees, according to Kevin McCarthy.

McCarthy promised in November that the pair may be given better committee assignments than they had before.

The House voted to remove Gosar from two committees after his office released a video showing him killing a democrat. At the beginning of last year, 11 House Republicans joined all Democrats in stripping her of her committee assignments due to her history of inflammatory comments.

McCarthy condemned their association with the conference as "unacceptable" and "appalling and wrong" after Gosar spoke via video address.

She wanted to speak to young conservatives who feel cast aside and marginalized by society, and she didn't know it was a white supremacist conference.

McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday that he had a meeting with Gosar, but that he would not attend future events held by the group. He didn't say anything about repercussions for their attendance, but he did say that his conversations with his members are exactly that.

Three years ago, McCarthy removed Steve King from his committee assignments after he made comments sympathetic to white supremacists. Randy Feenstra defeated King in the primary election.

McCarthy was asked if he stood by his pledge to return Gosar and Greene to committees in light of how he dealt with King.

McCarthy said that they have the ability to get committees based on time.
