The Chevrolet Blazer will be an electric car later this year. Chevy will be the first company to sell an electric vehicle with a performance model.

There is only an image of the charging port illuminated by a ring on this page. The charging port closing in the video is pretty cool. This is going to be a high performance version of the Chevy Blazer, which is why the hub cap has the SS badge on it.

There’s not much to go on here except an image of the charging port

V8 engines, dynamic handling capabilities, and variable suspension are some of the features of Chevy's gas-powered SS variant. Thanks to its electric battery and motor, the electric Blazer will not have the former, but it will have the latter. The new EV won't be a problem for the old one because of the poor gas mileage of the SS lineup.

GM announced last year that it would be releasing electric versions of its SUVs. The Chevrolet Equinox will retail for $30,000 in the US in an effort to drive broader adoption of electric vehicles.

It's interesting to see that GM is trying to make the Chevy Blazer more popular. Chevy would be at the forefront of GM's $35 billion push toelectrify its entire lineup by 2040 if the Equinox EV and Blazer EV were to arrive. The company is also making the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV, the Hummer EV pickup and SUV, the GMC Sierra EV, and the Cadillac Lyriq and Celestiq.

The electric Blazer will go on sale in the spring of 2023.
