The Denver Broncos agreed to terms on a deal for Russell Wilson on the same day that the Green Bay Packers renewed their relationship with Rodgers.

Rodgers kept his word. Before free agency, he decided on his future. Ian Rapoport claims that the four-time league Most Valuable Player will sign a massive multiyear extension that will keep him in Green Bay for the rest of his career.

Rodgers had three options, the Packers, Broncos and retirement.

It seems to be the worst-kept secret here at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine that The Athletic took the temperature of people around the league on the situation with Rodgers.

The drama results in a new deal for Rodgers, a Packers squad that has its leader under center for the foreseeable future and a ripple effect that has significant offseason implications for multiple teams and players.

The Broncos stole the spotlight with a blockbuster deal to acquire Wilson from the Seahawks, pending a physical and his approval because of a no-trade clause.

We will break down the winners and the sinners from the two transactions that will change the landscape of the league.

The Packers had a good look at Jordan Love during the off-season as they kept their distance from Rodgers.

Brian Gutekunst said that Love had a long way to go in his development process. Rob Demovsky struggled to move the ball in his first start against the Kansas City Chiefs, despite signs of progress last spring.

The Packers don't have to worry about Love. They have a clear answer at quarterback for at least a few years.

The Super Bowl window would have immediately closed in a transition from Rodgers to Love, but that is no longer an issue.

The Packers will reportedly lower Rodgers' cap hit, which will give them more room for Adams. The team is $45.8 million over the cap threshold.

Adams and Rodgers are arguably the best quarterback-receiver duo in the league. The two-time All-Pro wideout would prefer to stay in Green Bay with his teammate.

The blockbuster trade involving Russell Wilson and the Packers has nothing to do with the decision by Rodgers.

Rapoport said that Rodgers had the Broncos in mind when he was weighing his options. If he chose Denver, Seattle might have kept Wilson, but the game of musical chairs with quarterbacks leaves them with Drew Lock, whom they acquired in the trade.

The Broncos first-round pick can be used by Seattle to select a quarterback. At the combine, one of the prospects was liked by the Seahawks. Two of the top quarterbacks in this year's class are from Liberty and Pittsburgh.

Wilson is a nine-time Pro Bowler who led the franchise to a Super Bowl victory.

Ian Rapoport reported that the quarterback agreed to a four-year $200 million extension. He earned it on the field and would become the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The Packers moved up to the 26th spot for quarterback Jordan Love in the 2020 draft, which seemed to light a fire under Rodgers. Over the past two seasons, he has led the league in passer rating and QBR, with 8,414 yards, 85 touchdown and nine picks.

Two years ago, the Packers chose Rodgers as their quarterback, but he has a lot left in the tank, forcing them to rethink their long-term plan.

The Packers renewed their commitment to Rodgers in a way that said "I'm sorry that we doubted you" and "Now, he remains the face and the unanimous leader of the franchise."

The Packers have the option to keep Jordan Love under team control for an additional term if they exercise his fifth-year option.

Unless the star quarterback suffers an injury, Love will not have a chance to start in Green Bay. The Packers should place their young signal-caller on the trade block since his value will only drop from this point forward because of the lack of meaningful games.

Love threw for 411 yards, two touchdown and three interceptions in six games in 2021, with a completion rate of 58.1%. In his only start filling in for Rodgers, he was 19-of-34 passing for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception, and Green Bay lost 13-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In a small sample size, Love did not look ready to take over the offense of a playoff-caliber team. The thought of keeping Rodgers around as long as possible may have come to the Packers after that game.

Tom Silverstein believes that Green Bay has to trade Love now while teams look through a group of incoming rookies and free-agent options.

Love has intriguing physical tools that Green Bay can sell.

Since the Super Bowl 50 victory, the Broncos have needed stability at quarterback. They have had a revolving door under center and a bottom-tier offense that has ranked in the bottom 20 in scoring each year since Manning left.

Russell Wilson's new team is in playoff contention. The Broncos had a top eight defense in points and yards. The offense still has a deep wide receiver group that includes Tim Patrick, Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and KJ Hamler, despite Denver giving up tight end Noah Fant in the trade with Seattle.

Teddy Bridgewater beat out Drew Lock for the starting quarterback job in Denver last year, but he missed the last three games of the season with a concussion. George Paton hit a home run with a top-flight signal- caller.

The Broncos can move up from last place to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders, who made the playoffs this past season. They have the ability to compete with the quarterbacks of the Los Angeles Clippers and the Kansas City Chiefs for a long time.

The Raiders have the fourth-best quarterback in the division if you stack them up.

That isn't a shot at Carr, but his resume as a three-time Pro Bowler with 30-plus touchdown passes in one out of eight seasons doesn't stack up with the signal-callers Vegas will face twice a year.

One of two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for at least 5,000 yards and 50 touchdown in a single season is Patrick Mahomes. Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to the playoffs in eight of 10 seasons. Herbert set records as the 2020 offensive rookies of the year, and he threw for 69 touchdown and 25 interceptions in two years.

In the ultimate team sport, Carr doesn't shoulder the entire load to keep the Raiders competitive, but fair or not, the quarterback takes most of the responsibility for his team's results.

The Raiders have yet to start contract talks with quarterback Carr, who will be their starter in Week 1.

Carr can perform at the level of a top 10 quarterback in stretches, but he will need to do so with more consistency. The Raiders need to build a strong supporting cast around him or they will be behind in the race for the playoffs.

Kyler Murray wants an extension, according to his agent.

When Murray scrubbed his account of association with the organization, he signaled tension with the Arizona Cards.

According to the sources close to the situation, Murray felt that he was the scapegoat for the loss to the Rams, but the INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals INRDeals

Murray may have to grow in a leadership position, but the Cards don't have much of a choice but to stand by him as he matures. If the team doesn't meet his demands, he could lean into a baseball career. The Oakland A's selected him with the ninth overall pick.

The Rodgers deal gives agents a new floor in negotiations. Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, and Murray will all head into contract years.

The outlook of the Baltimore Ravens changed when Jackson took over. In his first year with the Rams, Stafford led them to a title.

Other quarterbacks are looking at dollar signs as Rodgers goes back to Green Bay with a new contract.

If Rodgers retired or was traded, the Vikings, Bears, and Lions may have thrown a party. He and the Packers need to be knocked off their pedestal for the next few years.

Green Bay has won 13 games in each of the last three seasons.

The Minnesota Vikings have only made the playoffs one time in the past 25 years. Kevin O'Connell is the new head coach of the Rams.

Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus were hired by the Chicago Bears. The Detroit Lions have finished last in the division for four years in a row, and head coach Dan Campbell will lead them into the second year of a rebuild.

The other three teams are trying to build a contender with new coaching staffs.

The Packers and Broncos executed major deals that involved star quarterbacks, but teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Commanders, and the New Orleans Saints must search for answers.

When free agency begins next week, teams can find a bridge-gap quarterback to stay competitive through 2022, before taking a look at the incoming rookies.

According to Jeremy Fowler, Mitchell Trubisky could sign a contract worth $10 million or more with a few teams. At the combine, Ben Standig heard a lot of discussion about the Pro Bowl signal-caller.

Standig wrote that the combine was wilder because of the steady conversation surrounding Trubisky.

With Rodgers and Wilson off the trade market, Trubisky's value went up a bit. He could choose the best landing spot that would give him a chance to sign a large contract.

The Commanders missed out on Russell Wilson due to the compensation that the Broncos received in exchange for him. Maybe the Seahawks didn't want to move him to the other side of the country.

According to Ian Rapoport, Seattle sent Wilson and a fourth-round pick to Denver in exchange for two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and a fifth-round pick.

The Commanders had a proposal that included three first-round picks. Washington could have added a couple of defensive players such as Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne and Montez Sweat along with premium selections to entice Seattle.

The Commanders have come up empty after the club made calls to every team with a quarterback who might be available. The Broncos failed in their attempt to acquire Wilson and the reported deal between the Broncos and the Seahawks likely hurts them more.
