During its Peek Performance event today, Apple officially announced a new Mac, adding another machine to its expanding desktop lineup. Apple's new M1 Max or M1 Ultra processor will be included in each configuration of the Mac Studio, starting at $1,999 and $3,999, respectively. The studio display is a new monitor that starts at $1,599. Preorder will begin today and both devices will be available on March 18th.
We have compiled a list of retailers that are currently offering the new devices.
The new M1 Max-equipped desktop made its debut, but we didn't see a new MacBook Air or revised version of the Mac Mini. The compact desktop starts at $1,999 and is available for pre-order from Apple's website.
There is a gap between the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro. The Studio is larger than the M1 Mac Mini, but it is still more powerful. The M1 Max configuration can be configured with either a 24 or 32-core model of the M1 Max, as well as with up to 64GB of unified memory and 8 terabytes of storage.
The studio has a lot of options. The rear of the machine has a number of ports, including four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a pair of USB-A ports, an HDMI output, a 10GB wired ethernet port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The front has a pair of ports and a card slot.
The Mac Studio starts with an M1 Max processor and 512 gigabytes of storage.
If you need more processing power, Apple has a new chip called the M1 Ultra. The M1 Ultra-equipped variant of the M1 Max is currently available for pre-order through Apple's website for $3,999 and will be available for shipment on March 18th.
The more powerful configuration of the Mac Studio lineup has the same footprint and options as the less expensive option. It can be configured with either a 48 or 64-core model of the M1 Ultra, and it can support up to 128GB of unified memory.
The Mac Studio is equipped with the new M1 Ultra, which is designed to be more powerful than Apple's other desktop models. The M1 Ultra studio's starting configuration has 64GB of unified memory and 1TB of SSD storage.
A new display was unveiled during Apple's spring event showcase. The base model of the Apple Studio Display will be shipping on March 18th. It doesn't feature Apple's new Silicon, but it still has an impressive array of options. The 27-inch, 5K Retina display has an integrated 12MP camera, as well as a trio of USB-C ports for peripherals, as well as a Thunderbolt 4 port to connect to a dock or laptop directly.
You can purchase a monitor with glass that diffuses light and reduces glare for $300. The display comes with an optional stand that can be adjusted for an extra $400, but you can also purchase it with a wall mount.
A more maneuverable stand and a glare-resistant coating can be added to the studio display. It has a 5K resolution and a 12MP camera.
