The M1 Ultra is Apple's most powerful chip yet.
Apple said using two separate processors on a board is inefficient. The company combined two M1 Max dies to create the M1 Ultra. The architecture Apple calls UltraFusion uses less power than the alternative and connects with 2.5 terabytes of interprocessor bandwidth. Apple claims the chip has 114 billion transistors and is able to provide low latency, massive bandwidth, and power efficiency.
The architecture supports memory speeds of more than 10 times the latest PC chip. Up to 128GB of unified RAM is supported. The hero chip has 20 cores, 16 performance and 4 high-efficiency cores, along with a 64-core graphics card. It is 8 times faster than M1, according to Apple.
Apple claims that it uses 100W less power than the fastest 16-core desktop PC chip. If true, those are some very interesting figures. Apple says it delivers faster performance than the best graphics cards.
