The relationship between the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson has deteriorated to the point where he is being traded to the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have agreed to trade for Wilson, according to a report by Adam Schefter.

The full details of the deal were reported by Ian Rapoport.

  • Broncos get: QB Russell Wilson, fourth-round pick
  • Seahawks get: two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, QB Drew Lock, DL Shelby Harris and TE Noah Fant

Wilson made a number of comments that suggested there might be a problem with the team. He said on The Dan Patrick Show that he wanted more of a role in the team's personnel decisions.

Wilson told Patrick that dialogue should happen more often.

After the interview, Patrick reported that the management of the team was not happy with Wilson for speaking publicly about his feelings.

The current situation is not sustainable.

According to Michael-Shawn Dugar, Mike Sando and Jayson Jenks of The Athletic, some of Wilson's frustration came from a meeting he had with the coaches prior to the Arizona game.

Wilson has sought influence within the organization regarding scheme and personnel for some time. He presented his ideas for how to fix the offense in the meeting. Multiple sources told The Athletic that Wilson's suggestions were dismissed and that the Seahawks didn't see him the same way as he saw himself.

Wilson's agent, Mark Rodgers, told Schefter that his client hadn't demanded a trade.

Wilson would only consider playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints if the Seattle Seahawks decided to explore trade options.

Wilson was going to be the most valuable player of the 2020 season. He threw for 2,151 yards and 26 touchdown in the first seven games of the season.

The second half of the season was not as good as the first, as Wilson had 2,061 passing yards, with 14 touchdown, seven interceptions and a 66.6 completion percentage. He was picked apart by the Los Angeles Rams defense, finishing with 174 yards and two touchdown.

The Rams hit Wilson 10 times and sacked him five times.

Wilson missed games for the first time in his career. He missed three games because of finger surgery. The North Carolina State graduate had a great start to the season with a 78.6 completion percentage, 1,196 yards, 10 touchdown and one interception.

He finished the season with 3,113 yards, 25 touchdown, six interceptions and a 64.8% completion percentage. Seattle missed the playoffs for the first time in two years and finished last in the West with a 7-10 record for the first time in Wilson's career.

Since being selected by Seattle in the third round of the 2012 draft, Wilson has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He has thrown for at least 30 touchdown passes five times and 4,000 or more yards four times in the past nine seasons.
