One of the best values in Apple's portfolio has gotten better.

Tim Cook and his team took some time out of their announcement stream on Tuesday to show off an updated version of the iPhone. The new SE functions the same as the previous one. It packs some tech into the body of the iPhone 8 and has a regular home button for people like me who don't want to learn new things. It will be available for $429 on March 18 and comes in three colors: Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red.

It has the same display as the old iPhone 8. The A15 chip inside the new iPhone SE is the same one used in the previous model, which explains the $30 price jump. It will give you access to some of the features you see on the flagships, like better battery life and improved performance in mobile games. The new one supports 5G networks.

The camera is the main difference between the iPhone SE and the more expensive iPhones. You won't get three lenses with every fancy feature here, but what you do get should take nice shots for social media. The 12MP lens has software enhancements that should make photos look better without a billion lens.

It's an Apple product, and it has the brains of an Apple product. It doesn't get much better than that for people who like the elegance of the iPhones but don't want to pay $1,200 for a premium phone.
