The blood clot that led to the amputation of two toes on Deion's left foot came from a previous surgery.

In an episode of his Coach Prime documentary series, the Jackson State head coach revealed the severity of his foot injury, which will air Tuesday night on Barstool Sports.

In the middle of last season, he was hospitalized. The team finished 11-2.

He had a toe injury. He returned to the field for practice after his initial procedure, using a golf cart and crutches. He was on the sideline for the game with a push scooter.

As he healed, his toes began to turn brown.

They were talking about the amputation of my legs. They were trying to make sure I had a life.

The 54-year-old underwent several surgeries. He had a blood clot. Doctors had to open his leg to drain fluid because of compartment syndrome. The big toe and second toe on his left foot were removed.
