The latest response by the social app to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine is hiding follower information for private accounts in Russia and Ukraine.

In a corporate post on Tuesday, Meta said it was hiding information about people's followers, who they are following, and people who are following each other for private accounts. The media under the control of the Russian government is not being recommended in the Explore section or in the Reels section of the TikTok competitor.

The Russian government is trying to control what Russians see about the bloody invasion of Ukraine by blocking access to Facebook and a number of western media outlets. The Russian government recently blocked Facebook for the same reason as they blocked Russian state media. According to third party estimates, Facebook has less users in Russia than it does in the US.
