Scott Brown left Aberdeen to take the next steps in his coaching journey.
The former Scotland captain joined Stephen Glass in the summer of 2016 to work as a coach.
Glass was fired last month and Jim Goodwin came in to replace him.
Aberdeen is a huge club and I know there is a real determination to deliver success both on and off the pitch.
The Dons lost at Rangers on Saturday, but the ex-Celtic skipper wasn't in the squad.
He will leave the Dons to focus on his coaching development with a view to taking the first steps in his managerial career when an opportunity arises. We wish him the best in his career.
Brown, who has won 10 league titles and 13 cup tournaments as a player, thanked Aberdeen's board, Glass and his Dons team-mates.
I was only in the North-east for a short time, but the fans made me feel welcome, so my thanks must go to them for showing me so much support.
After winning his first medal, Brown went on to win 55 international caps and score four goals for his country.
At Celtic, where he won 22 of his 23 medals, Brown played over 600 times and is seventh on the all-time appearance list.
