Another huge investment is being made by Google in cloud security. The search giant has agreed to acquire Mandiant in an all-cash transaction.
Microsoft is out of the picture after it was rumored that it was in talks to buy Mandiant. Microsoft scrapped the negotiations due to concerns that Mandiant's collection of security businesses wasn't a good enough strategic fit.
The cybersecurity firm will be baked into the cloud if the acquisition of Mandiant is approved by regulators. The Mountain View-based giant plans to develop an end-to-end security operations suite with help from Mandiant.
There are a lot of security services offered by Google Cloud. The addition of Mandiant will bolster its services in a number of areas.

Once the transaction is completed, Mandiant's more than 600 consultants and over 300 intelligence analysts will join the cloud.

The Mandiant buy is expected to close later this year, pending regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
