At a Security Council meeting on Monday night, the ambassador to the United Nations made a cynical quip to Russian diplomats, suggesting they seek mental help for pushing the Kremlin's talking points on the invasion of Ukraine.
At the meeting, Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya held a piece of paper with a message from the Russian embassy in the UK that claimed the goal of Russia's special military operation was to stop war.
Kyslytsya said that the Russian embassy in London was retweeted by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
In case of need for mental help in London, you can dial the National Health Service line. The ambassador said thank you to the National Health Service of the UK.
Since Putin announced a military assault on Ukraine, Kyslytsya has made caustic remarks towards Russia's representatives. Kyslytsya had told Russia's ambassador to the UN that war criminals should go straight to hell.
On Monday, Kyslytsya called Nebenzya's sanity into question.
Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya said that one of his colleagues said that it looks like group therapy.
We are all trying to bring sanity to one member. The Department of Health of the city of New York is called the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, he said.
Kyslytsya said it was difficult to listen to the lies and delusions coming from that particular country.
Nebenzya, who spoke immediately after Kyslytsya, said he would not debate with the Ukrainian ambassador. Nebenzya blamed the Ukrainians for the disruptions in the ceasefire agreement which would have allowed for a humanitarian aid corridor.
Twelve days after Russian troops and tanks invaded its borders, fighting is still raging.
