When it comes to adapting classic PSone games for television, Sony Picture Television is getting more aggressive. The Last of Us is currently being filmed, while Twisted Metal was ordered earlier this month. According to Deadline, Amazon Prime Video is in talks to adapt God of War as a live-action TV series.
The creators of The Expanse and The Wheel of Time are collaborating on a show called God of War. A deal with Prime Video doesn't seem to have been finalized yet.
Kratos, a Spartan warrior and former follower of the Greek god of war, Ares, was introduced to players in the first God of War game. Kratos worshiped Ares until he was forced to kill his own family. Kratos accepted a mission from the other gods to slay Ares. He became the new god of war. He discovered that Zeus was worried about his power and he was betrayed again. Kratos fought a war against Olympus and met Zeus in the end.
God of War was the new game that Sony reset the series with. Kratos and his son, Atreus, are dealing with the gods of Norse mythology as the brooding father attempts to leave his violent past behind him. The PS5 game God of War: Ragnar will be released later this year.
According to Prime Video, Goggins will headline the series based on a video game franchise. Prime Video is in talks to adapt the Mass Effect games as well. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time are part of the streamer's push into sci-fi and fantasy.
