Foreign football players in Russia can temporarily leave the country.

The announcement was made due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russian football clubs and national teams have been suspended from all competition until further notice.

It said that it would like to reiterate its condemnation of the use of force by Russia.

The world governing body added that foreign players and coaches have the right to suspend their employment contracts with the clubs in question until the end of the season in Russia.

The players and coaches will be free to sign a contract with another club without facing any consequences, because they will be out of contract by June 30, 2022.

The measures did not go far enough according to Fifpro.

The decision to allow foreign players to only suspend their contracts and only temporarily leave Russian clubs is too timid.

It will be hard for players to find employment for the rest of the season and, within a few weeks, they will be in a very difficult situation again.

These players should be able to end their contracts.

The Russian Football Union will appeal against the ban from international competition.

Spartak Moscow have been kicked out of the competition and the final of the competition has been moved to Paris.
