Since the 90s, cosplaying has been a booming hobby. It began in Japan and has traveled around the world. Ten years ago, Riann was encouraged to pursue the hobby by positive reactions from other convention goers, and now she is getting her degree in costume design and works as an alterations specialist at David's Bridal. Riann credits her little sister with helping her learn to sew, but her mom made most of her costumes before that. Riann would stick to simpler cosplays that she could throw together with finds from thrift stores and a lot of hot glue. She is able to sew intricate designs and piece together epic props to emulate her favorite characters, like Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill video game franchise.
