Ian Rapoport reported the news.

He was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Browns.

When the 2020 season began, there was some uncertainty about what uniform Njoku would be wearing. He and his agent requested a trade before the start of training camp, according to a report.

Njoku spent both the 2020 and 2021 seasons in Cleveland.

The decision by Cleveland to sign former Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper may have been the catalyst for the initial request. It was clear that Njoku would no longer be the go-to tight end in Cleveland.

At the University of Miami, Njoku flashed big-time potential, and he went 29th overall to the ClevelandBrowns. During his first season, he hauled in 32 catches for 386 yards and four touchdown.

During quarterback Baker Mayfield's first season, Njoku set career highs with 56 grabs for

Expectations were huge for Njoku in the second year of his contract with the Cleveland Indians. The fans of the Browns were disappointed by what they saw from him and the team.

While Njoku's poor season could be attributed to a broken wrist he suffered in Week 2, the Browns finished just 6-10 and missed the playoffs for the 17th consecutive season.

In 13 games in 2020, he had 19 catches for 213 yards and two scores.

The fifth-year option in Njoku's contract was exercised by the Browns in April 2020, keeping him under contract for 2021.

The best season of Njoku's career was in which he had 36 catches for 475 yards and four scores.

With Cleveland short on weapons in the passing game, it decided to keep one of its most explosive players, even though it was widely expected that it would let Njoku walk in free agency.
