Hundreds of migrants from Haiti arrived in a wooden boat off shore of an exclusive gated community in north Key Largo Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Adam Linhardt, spokesman for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, said initial reports said between 150 and 200 people were on the vessel when it stopped in the shallow water.

More than a hundred people swam to the shore after the boat ran aground, with some needing medical assistance. Walter N. Slosar, Chief Agent of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said on Sunday night.

More than 500 people have been taken into custody by U.S. immigration officials after a third large group of migrants were stopped between Haiti and the United States. 179 and 123 people were taken into custody after two interdictions last week.

There were incidents on two islands of the Bahamas.

Large groups of Haitian migrants arrive in South Florida from the Ocean Reef area.

There were 176 people stopped near the Ocean Reef in January.

On Christmas Eve, Border Patrol agents took 52 people from Haiti into custody after they arrived by sailboat off a remote two-lane highway that leads to Ocean Reef called Card Sound Road. After 63 Haitian migrants landed in the same location on Card Sound Road, there was another landing.
