Despite suffering its second loss of the season, South Carolina remained No. 1 in the Associated Press women's basketball poll.
The Gamecocks fell to Kentucky in the SEC tournament title game on Sunday, but stayed atop the poll.
The national media panel gave 17 first-place votes to South Carolina. The team that won the conference tournament got 11 first-place votes. NC State received two top votes. The top five were: Louisville, Baylor, Louisville, and SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA.
The team has gone 11-0 against ranked opponents this season.
We have put ourselves in a good position. It doesn't feel good going into the NCAA tournament, but we have a lot of feel-goods throughout the season that we will draw on.
It was the second time this season that the Gamecocks were still the top ranked team after a loss.

Kentucky fell out of the rankings in the middle of January after being ranked for the first 11 weeks of the season. The Wildcats are back in the AP Top 25 after winning 10 straight games.
Texas, LSU and Iowa State rounded out the top 10. The Power 5 conferences have yet to start their tournaments.

The UCF earned its first ranking in the poll. The top seed in the American Athletic Conference tournament is the Knights, who have won 10 straight games.
Georgia, Florida and Georgia Tech all fell out of the Top 25.
The final poll of the season will be released next Monday, a day after the NCAA announces the field of 68 teams.
The eyes of the tiger.
The Ivy League's only perfect team entered the Top 25 for the first time this season. The Tigers have won 15 straight games. The final five weeks of the season were when Princeton was last ranked. The Ivy League didn't play sports last year because of the coronaviruses.
It had been over 18 months since the team had played organized basketball. In November and December we were trying to figure things out and the team came to work every day and worked hard.
