An 18-year-old student at a high school in Kansas has been charged with attempted capital murder after shooting a school resource officer.

The man was in the Johnson County District Court.

A $1,000,000 bond has been set.

The shooting happened around 10:38 a.m. The school resource officer was dispatched to the main office to assist with an administrative matter. He said an exchange of gunfire took place between the student and Clark.

According to the traffic captured by Broadcastify.com, Clark called in the shooting moments after it happened. The suspect and two others were also shot.

He said that he had applied a tourniquet on himself.

An assistant principal and a student were injured in the shooting.

The school was put under lock down until it was safe to arrange reunifications for families. Many students were shuttled to Pioneer Trail and California Trail middle schools by bus.

Clark and Stoppel were released from the hospital.

The suspect was in critical condition as of Saturday morning.

Elmore is a senior on the football team.

Records from Wyandotte County show that he was sentenced as a juvenile for robbing a person by force or threat of bodily harm.
