The World of Hyatt launched a promotion in January. This is the first offer of the program in 2022, and it could be a good deal. If you're interested in buying points, this is your last chance because the promotion is ending today.
The World of Hyatt is offering a 30% bonus on points. You can get the 30% bonus if you purchase at least 5,000 points.
You can buy World of Hyatt points for 2.4 cents each. If you maxed out the promotion, you will receive a total of 71,500 World of Hyatt points, which is a rate of 1.90 cents per World of Hyatt point.
When Hyatt offers a promotion on points, the program usually offers either a 40% bonus or 25% discount. The promotion is in line with what we typically see.
You can buy points for World of Hyatt before any bonuses.
The World of Hyatt program allows you to combine points across accounts for the purpose of redemptions, which could be a good deal. There are two major restrictions to be aware of.
Hyatt's point combining request form is required in order to combine points.
World of Hyatt points purchases are not counted as hotel purchases for purposes of credit card spending.
If you want to reach a minimum spending requirement, or if you want to maximize your return on everyday spending, I would recommend using a Chase Freedom unlimited credit card.
If you're unsure, review which credit cards are best for buying points and miles.
I wouldn't buy World of Hyatt points without a specific use in mind, but there is tons of value to be had if buying points strategically.
I am a huge fan of the World of Hyatt program because of the excellent hotel brands Hyatt has, and the general value of World of Hyatt Globalist status, including the ability to use suite upgrade awards when redeeming points. I have had many amazing award stays with Hyatt over the years, and you could instantly buy points and redeem them at a property and save over 50% in the process. I will get into that in a bit more detail.
Here is the World of Hyatt award chart for standard room redemptions.
Peak and off-peak pricing is new for the World of Hyatt. As of March 22, 2022, some Hyatts will be changing category for stays, which is bad news.
There are so many amazing World of Hyatt redemptions that I want to show you some examples.
I redeemed 30,000 World of Hyatt points per night for a stay at the Category 7 Alila Ventana Big Sur. Cash rates can be as high as $2,000 per night.
I redeemed 30,000 World of Hyatt points per night for a stay at the Category 7 Park Hyatt Maldives, which has a cash rate of $1,000 per night.
I redeemed 40,000 World of Hyatt points per night for a stay at the Category 8 Calala Island Nicaragua, which is bookable through World of Hyatt's Small Luxury Hotels of the World partnership. All food, drinks, and activities are included in the stays at this private island. There would be paid rates of over $3,000 per night.
I redeemed 40,000 World of Hyatt points per night for a stay at the Category 8 Canaves Oia Epitome Santorini, which is bookable through the Small Luxury Hotels of the World partnership. This hotel is one of my favorites in Greece, and the paid rates are over $1,000 per night.
Some of my favorite uses of World of Hyatt points are for super-aspirational redemptions, but there are also lots of good values to be had at more reasonably priced properties. I think the luxury properties are the ones that are worth highlighting.
If you don't have any activity in your account for 24 months, you can lose your World of Hyatt points. Any points earning or redemption activity would reset the expiration of your points.
I value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each, and I tend to value them conservatively. The purchase price is a bit higher than what I value, but there are other ways to get more value.
All standard rooms at the World of Hyatt are supposed to be available for points redemptions at the published costs. There are capacity controls when redeeming at Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties, but this applies to all Hyatt managed properties.
There are many reasons to buy World of Hyatt points. There are other ways to get World of Hyatt points at a lower cost.
You can transfer points from the World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to the Chase Ultimate rewards program.
This post contains everything you need to know about Hyatt points.
A 30% bonus on the purchase of points could be a good deal. I know people who maxed out how many points they could buy last year will be interested in this.
Many people outside the United States who don't have credit cards find it worthwhile to buy World of Hyatt points. You'll want to crunch the numbers for yourself, based on the potential stays you'd make.
