According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu is going to test the market as a free agent.

Rapoport noted that the Chiefs could still re-sign him, but he could get double digits for his yearly salary in his next deal.
He had previously suggested on social media that the Chiefs could try to replace him.

The 29-year-old was named to the Pro Bowl three times and was a first-team All-Pro three times.
Last season, he was third on the team with 76 tackles. He had a defensive touchdown and three turnovers. His game-changing plays helped the Chiefs finish eighth in points allowed and make a run to the playoffs.
Kansas City has been to the Super Bowl twice, winning once.
Before the season, Veach said that cap issues held back extension talks.
The landscape is difficult, Veach said in August.
According to Spotrac, the Chiefs have $11.5 million of cap space, but according to a report by Adam Schefter, the team will use the franchise tag on Brown, which will cut into that number.
There would be a significant hole in the back of the defense if the team was unable to re-sign Mathieu. The veteran played most of the defensive snaps last season, but he missed the playoffs because of an injury.
The safety position is a major need for Kansas City in the off-season.
