Bill Barr, Donald Trump's former Attorney General, said that the former President doesn't care about the truth about the election.

In an interview with NBC News, Barr said he didn't believe Trump was fixated on proving his election-fraud claims.

Barr said that he thinks his attitude is: "It either was stolen, or if it wasn't stolen, I want people to believe it was stolen."

There is no evidence that Trump is right. There were a number of legal challenges to the voting tally around the US.

It is useful. I don't think he's really focused on finding out what the truth is.

Since leaving office, a Trump official has turned on their former boss. As with others, in caused a furious response from Trump.

In response to a question about a claim he made in his recently-released book, Barr described Trump's attitude to the fraud claims.

According to NBC News, he wrote in the book that Trump would never concede the election because he was a loser.

In December 2020, Barr resigned over the false election-fraud claims.

When Barr announced publicly that he had seen no evidence of fraud, Trump was "the maddest I had ever seen him," Barr told the outlet in comments released last week ahead of the full interview.

There has been no evidence of widespread fraud since the election. Rudy Giuliani, one of the lawyers Trump turned to, was described as aclown show by Barr in his interview.

Giuliani is being sued by voting technology companies for defamation.

In a pre-emptive rebuttal to the interview, Trump claimed the election was stolen. Liz Harrington, his spokeswoman, sent out a response late Sunday that was seemingly prepared long before the interview aired.

In a three-page statement dated March 2 and address to Barr's interviewer, Trump blasted Barr as weak and said he wouldn't know voter fraud if it was staring him in the face.

Insider contacted Harrington and did not get a reply.
