Two people passed through a security checkpoint at a military base in Maryland and caused a lock down.

According to a press release provided to Insider, the driver of a vehicle did not listen to security commands at the main gate and drove through. Two people tried to flee on foot after barriers were deployed.

One was taken into custody by security forces. The person had a weapon, but no shots were fired, according to the press release.

The person is still on the run.

There is not an active shooter situation at Joint Base Andrews, however, the person who entered is currently unknown.

Air Force One, the plane for the president, is at Joint Base Andrews.

Scott Detrow, an NPR White House correspondent who was on the base, said that Vice President Harris and other cabinet members had just landed at the base. Harris and the others made it off the base safely, according to a White House official.

The members of the cabinet were transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The White House did not reply immediately.
