The future of Lawrence with the Dallas Cowboys is in doubt.
According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Lawrence could be a candidate to be released after he refused to take a pay cut. The second-highest salary on the team will be made by him.
Lawrence has spent his entire career in Dallas. He had surgery to repair a broken fifth metatarsal in his foot and was limited to seven games.
Lawrence could suffer the same fate as Ware because he refused to take a pay cut, according to Watkins.
Dallas needs to address other players this off-season. The wide receiver is likely to be released to free up cap space if he is on the roster on March 20. The Cowboys organization will have a tough decision to make this summer.
Stephen Jones, the executive vice president, said that they had to make some decisions.
Lawrence hasn't recorded double-digit sacks in a year, but he's still considered a high-level edge-rusher. Watkins noted that if the 29-year-old does hit the open market, he will likely command a high salary from teams in need of improvements to their pass rush.
