The company confirmed to CNBC that it is pulling its service in Russia.

The service in Russia has been suspended due to the circumstances on the ground.

The Russian market makes up a small percentage of the overall numbers. CNBC previously reported that the company has just under 1 million subscribers in Russia.

The streaming service stopped projects in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. There were four Russian-language series in production and post-production. Russian rules required that news channels be carried byNetflix.

Tech giants and retailers have begun to take hard stances against Russia, either pulling service or barring sales. Following the start of the war, many media companies have suspended service in Russia.

Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount Pictures and Universal all followed Disney's announcement that it was pausing all film debuts in the country.

The parent company of CNBC and NBCUniversal is the same company as NBCUniversal.
