The Kentucky women's basketball team won the SEC tournament title for the first time since 1982 with a 64-62 upset of South Carolina on Sunday. The winning basket was a 3-pointer.
7 in the tournament, won four games in Nashville, Tennessee, to take the championship, including beating top seed South Carolina, No. 2 LSU and No. 3 Tennessee. They beat Mississippi State on Thursday.
Kentucky won the title in the third year of the tournament. In the last four years, the SEC final has been lost by the Cats. They lost to South Carolina twice in the regular season, but were able to beat them on Sunday. South Carolina lost to Missouri on December 30.
The overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament is still locked up by South Carolina, according to Charlie Creme. Six of the past seven SEC tournament titles have been won by the Gamecocks.
Kentucky has won 10 games in a row and is 19-11 overall and 8-8 in the SEC.
