The national state of emergency allows the federal government to issue COVID grants and waivers to rules and regulations, such as allowing expanded telehealth services, or for a hospital to conduct screenings offsite to limit the spread of the disease.

The FDA's emergency use designation would be stopped if the state of emergency was ended. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which were initially approved for emergency use, but have since gained full FDA approval, would not be affected.

The end goal was not known until this weekend, and there is still confusion about how long the protest will last. After circling the Beltway Sunday, the drivers plan to return to Hagerstown to fuel up and sleep. The protesters don't know what will happen next.
