Major League Baseball received a proposal from the MLB Players Association on Sunday. It included a $5 million reduction to the union's last offer in a pre-arbitration bonus pool, but it did not include any changes to its competitive balance tax proposal, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The meeting in New York isn't likely to bring an end to the baseball season.
The first threshold in the CBT is $238 million and ends at $263 million. Over the course of the five years, the league's offer goes up to $230 million.
The league was offering $30 million more than the union was asking for in the pre-arbitration pool.
The sides are far apart on those two issues.
Day 95 was the 95th day of the lockout. The first two regular-season series have been canceled. The regular-season games are likely to be canceled at the beginning of the week.
