NASA's Mars Rover, also called Perseverance, seems to have taken a stowed away on board to cart across the Red Planet's surface.
A series of photos that show a medium-sized rock trapped in the rover's wheel was published on Friday. The outlet reported that space fans who enjoy reviewing the raw images the Rover messages back to Earth noticed the rock and voted several pictures of it as the image of the week.
On NASA's Mars Rover photo gallery, there is a picture of the first occurrence of the rock. The next shot was taken on February 25. The rock in this photo appears to be smaller than it was in the first shot. The most recent shot was collected on March 2. There is a chip in the rock and small particles of Martian dust inside the wheel. The image is from the official NASA website.
The Mars Rover seems to be carrying on as usual despite the hitch. The rover is breaking driving records. Perseverance's updated design includes six wheels made from aluminum. It has cleats that give it traction on the rough, rocky and dusty terrain, and each wheel is less than 20 inches in diameter.
We feel bad about the trapped rock, but it's good to hear thatPerseverance is persevering. If nobody was around to help you get a rock out of your shoe, wouldn't you find it annoying? It should fall out or break apart without causing problems.
There is a video of the space station breaking apart.
