Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that eight Russian missiles destroyed an airport in central Ukraine.

Zelensky described the missile strike in a video that was shared on social media.

Dramatic footage shows flames and black smoke rising from the site of the Ukrainian airport, 200 miles west of Kyiv, after the attack.

Zelensky renewed his call for a no-fly zone over Ukraine in a video he released after the missile strike.

He said in the video that it was necessary to close it for all Russian missiles, Russian combat aircraft, and all terrorists.

If Western leaders don't give us planes so we can protect ourselves, there's only one thing to conclude, you want us to be killed very slowly.

The no-fly zone has been ruled out by the United States and other NATO countries.

NATO aircraft would have the power to shoot down invaders if they didn't withdraw, Insider's Jacob Shamsian reported.

The idea of a no-fly zone was rejected by the White House when Jen Psaki warned that it could lead to a war between the US and Russia. That is not something the president wants to do.
