Space.com is the premier source of space exploration, innovation and astronomy news, and is celebrating humanity's ongoing expansion across the final frontier. Through accessible, comprehensive coverage of the latest news and discoveries, we transport visitors across the solar system and beyond. We like to explore space as much as the destination. At Space.com you can find everything from skywatching guides and stunning photos of the night sky to rocket launches and breaking news of robotic probes visiting other planets.

Our Mission

To celebrate space exploration, innovation and discovery.

Our History

The goal of Space.com was to cover the latest discoveries and missions in space like never before, 30 years after the Apollo 11 moon landing. Sally Ride was the first American woman in space when she was the first President of the company. The first man to walk on the moon was on the board of directors.

The Online News Association gave Space.com an Online Journalism Award for breaking news in 2003 for our coverage of the Columbia space shuttle disaster. It was an Honoree in the Science category in four of the last five years.

The parent company of Space.com changed its name in 2004. Tech Media Network acquired Space.com in 2009. Purch, the parent company of Space.com, was acquired by Future.

Space.com is the passion of writers and editors who are space fans and also trained journalists.
