There was violence in the stands that spilled onto the pitch of the Estadio Corregidora on Saturday.
During the 63rd minute of the match, fans ran onto the field to avoid fights between supporters of the rival teams. The referee stopped the game with the score at one goal in favor of Atlas, as fans began to flee the field.
The match was suspended in hopes that order would be restored. The upper bowl of the stadium was the site of the 1986 World Cup games. The game was stopped after hundreds of fans continued to flood the field.
Pictures and videos shared on social media showed people being beaten, kicked and dragged while others were left lying on the ground, covered in blood, in what appeared to be the seating area of the stadium in the central city of Queretaro.
The footage was shown by local television channels.
The president of the league called the violence "inadmissible" and promised "exemplary punishments" before he confirmed that the remaining games would not be played.
22 people were injured and nine were taken to the hospital after the game was suspended, two of which are in critical condition.
The committee will wait for more information to come through, as they have started an investigation into the matter.
